Today's Széchenyi square is dominated by the full bodied bronze statue of the greatest Hungarian, Count István Széchenyi, who stands on a tall, structured stone pedestal. One of the most authentic Széchenyi- statues, as far as public squares go, was created by Alajos Stróbl, sculptoror. The pedestal of the statue is decorated with the family coat of arms, underneath that is the famous maxim of Széchenyi: "Hungary was not, it will be".
